I personally don't see why is there a fascination with "Bad Boy Mafia Romance" borders into dark romance when the FMC was kidnapped by the MMC and somehow the FMC falls for the MMC. At least this one is relatively gentle (i.e. she was not forced in any way except cowering at his powerful presence...
Allie was supposed to just be normal college girl enjoying a bachelorette party with her girls on San Juan Puerto Rico when she heard something she wasn't supposed to, and got hauled off by Santiago, an enforcer in the PR Mafia family. The fact that she's the daughter of a US Senator made no difference to the thug... but Santiago was not merely a thug, and when everybody else told him to slit her throat and dump her, Santiago refused. All he needed is a little time for the mission to take place, then what she knew wouldn't hurt her and he can let her go unharmed... but would he want to?
I have no problem with an anti-hero MMC, but FMC, after having been kidnapped, gagged, tied up, and hauled off caveman style, and listen to all the other bad boys yammering about just slit her throat and dump her, and STILL proceed to fall for the MMC, just screams of Stockholm syndrome (i.e. Patty Hearst) rather than real love. It basically boils down to "he's bad, but he's good to me". At least the FMC here is not a total doormat, and the fact that he got her over the fear of being touched by a male (due to prior trauma) would have helped a little. That's why this book gets a 3 star... The two characters are actually quite decent.
