Rescued is a romantic comedy of an unlikely couple united by a semi-feral cat and her kittens.
Thomas is a geek entrepreneur on top of his game at mere 23, having founded a major wearable company, and he's too busy for a girlfriend. But a family of stray kittens and their mama cat lead him to meet Tessa, a college senior trying to get her psych degree, got heartbroken by a cheating BF, and rather be rescuing kittens than studying for tests. Each finds the other fascinating. Tessa enjoyed Thomas' naive yet straightforward (if a bit chauvinistic) attitude, while Thomas enjoyed Tessa's joy of life and dedication to her cause. And the cat and family were their common bond. But can such a relationship work?
The story felt a long longer than it should, as there were many extra plots, like Thomas saw his company pivoted away from his control and lost focus, and Tessa's parents take a vacation, and so on. Somehow those events don't feel if they integrate that much into the romance. The ending was sort of forced proximity when Tessa had a vision about something very bad happened and needed Thomas' help. The darkest hour and grand gesture were hard to recognize. Still, the rest of the book seems to make up for it.
