GRR Reviews Branded For You by Cheyenne McCray

Branded For You may be set in Arizona and was supposedly about cowboys, but not much cowboy-ing happened in this book. instead, this is about restaurant war turned dirty, a girl discovering she can be cherished for her shape, and about fundamentally misunderstanding the situation leading to heartaches.

Megan Wilder had to move to a different state after her BF divorced her for being... curvy. She was helping her parents and her sister manage the cafe, where they made the most delicious food, but a hostile neighbor (who also owned a restaurant, and had designs on the location) threatened to ruin them. Bad reviews started appearing on review sites, and an unscheduled inspection from anonymous complaint turned up nothing, even though visit was played up in local paper. Megan met the handsome Ryan McBride at the local fair and they had a wonderful time, even as Megan found that her parents apparently are being foreclosed on, as the owner of their house needed a balloon payment, as per terms, and the restaurant was doing bad enough they can't afford such. After Megan finally gave in and went with Ryan on a 3-day camping holiday, and had a wonderful time, only to return to utter chaos, when her father had a heart attack, upon receiving foreclosure papers, and died soon after Megan's return. Megan was shocked that Ryan was the one who delivered the foreclosure papers. Ryan tried to make up for it by reorganizing the cafe's reopening, but someone sabotaged the event...

The evil perp was pretty easy to guess, and greed in this case served as his motivation (instead of cruelty). I think the ending was wrapped up a bit too easily and conveniently though, as if the book was finished in stages and as there's a bit of tone mismatch between different parts of the book. Still, I liked the book well enough to recommend it.
