GRR Reviews An Astonishing Match (The Match Series by Barbara Dunlop
An Astonishing Match is a contemporary romance about a man who met his match, but was convinced it was his brother's match instead, and was supposed to set her up with his brother.
Hunter Vashon is on an interesting mission... because his grandma asked him to. Gram and her gang have a matchmaking algorithm and they found the ideal match for Hunter's brother Hammond: Kalie Gray. But Hammond is a suit and tie kind of guy, and Hunter, being the rebel of the family and owner of his own construction firm, prefers t-shirts and jeans... and Kalie... is a machinist who moonlights as a dirt tracking racing pit crew. The more time Hunter spent with Kalie, the more he wanted her for himself, rather than for his brother. But Gram was sure their match cannot possibly be wrong... What's Hunter going to do? What will Kalie do when she found out and when she met Hammond?
The vibe was definitely rom com, even when things started to turn a bit dark (like the time Gram and gang locked Hunter in a storage room to make sure he can't interfere with the date between Kalie and Hammond). The scene was setup as humorous (imprisoned by people in a retirement community, hah!) and the end was "love conquers all" (though not quite in the way you'd expect!) Fun read overall.
