GRR Reviews Call Me Ana: A Love Story by Scarlet Bonnet

Call Me Ana is a small town romance that contained a VERY disturbing scene near the end that while it fits perfectly, it is nonetheless shocking and will leave you troubled. And the ending... is more shock as well.

Ana Marie ran away from home after abuse and rape and forged a life for herself as "Rachel" in a small town cafe, willing to settle for mere subsistence living by living off the books and grid. She did not know how to love or how to trust, until one day a new visitor to town, Grant, captured her heart and showed her there is hope for even her. But there's a dangerous and violent man, Roy, who cannot tolerate the thought of "Rachel" belong to anyone else... and Ana will do anything to keep Grant safe... including sending him away...

The book did show quite a bit of tension, but never violence up to that point, at least not outright violence. It was mentioned, but not so explicitly. And the way that was resolved... was even more shocking. This is not sweet, this is not cozy. This is OMG WTF scene that just somehow feels... a bit out of place.
