GRR Reviews Love on the Range: A Western Mail-Orde by Sondra Grey
Love on the Range initially showed some promise but the end result is a confusing plot with confusing characters with contradictory traits. Throwing in "bonus content" to pump up the page count to 200% more pages (488 instead of 150) is just a lame way to cheat Kindle Unlimited.
Elizabeth Price graduated medical college having gained experience under her father who was also a doctor. But when he died she was denied her diploma unless she gave in to her lecherous professor's demands to become his mistress, and ruin her reputation in town any way. Meanwhile, in Wyoming, Nicholas Rhymer must wed by his 30th birthday to retain his ranch, but his heart was broken by death of his love, Jessica, and there are no other prospects nearby. When Elizabeth chose to become a mail order bride, she was the perfect answer to Nicholas's needs... but Nicholas did not expect the girl who can stand up for herself, and Elizabeth did not expect the man to be so wounded...
The plot appears to be picked out of a trope basket, and the character traits don't belong together. Elizabeth was strong enough to finish medical college, but fainted multiple times after a bit of stress. There is apparently nobody else in town that can protect her so she ran, despite being on the East Coast full of people, and basically become a housewife, just to get away. And being a Western ranch wife is not easy... There really is no time to be a doctor or anything else. There is virtually zero chemistry between the FMC and MMC, with little more than pity holding the two together. Also, the speech patterns appears to be way too contemporary to be historical western.
And the bonus content wasn't even a Western, but a "Highlander" romance.
