GRR Reviews Only You (A Sweet Torment Novel) by Joya Ryan

Only You is about betrayal, on several levels, and finding someone to hold during the rough times. It was surprisingly emotional.

Paige Levine survived her childhood. She was almost sexually assaulted by her stepdad, but she was not believed not even by her mother, even 10 years later. Instead, she got the undeserved reputation as a drama queen. She moved on and landed a job in the governor's cabinet as an able assistant to the PR guy, but when the PR guy was forced to resign in a scandal involving younger female staff, and money was missing, she found herself unemployed as well. Down and out, she tried to drown her sorrows in tequila and had a quick fling in a bar restroom with a hot delivery guy. Only later, did she realize that was no delivery guy... That was Leo Savas, a shipping magnate and a friend of the governor, and she will be his temporary personal assistant when his regular PA had to take a 3-month leave for a family emergency. Paige needed this job, and with her ex-boss being in the middle of the scandal, she's persona non grata. When someone leaked the scandal to the press, reporters started to hound her and all her friends and relatives, wondering if she was among those sexually harassed by her boss, or if she had anything to do with the missing money... and the sexual tension between her and Leo threaten to ignite, even as she tries to stay professional...

The tension was actually quite nice, as the circumstances were all conspiring against her. She can't fall for the boss since she's suspected of misconduct in her previous job. Her "reputation" of crying wolf and was never believed also basically ruined her for life. My only problem was Leo being a bit too... perfect. I also find the problem with her forced to resign rather strange, because if she's that good of an assistant, I'd thought she'd be promoted to her boss's position instead, rather than being swept out the door as well.
