GRR Reviews Something Simple by Carol Davis
Something Simple is about a woman finding her place in life, after being pushed around by her family, her friends, and her job.
Randi is turning 30, and after super-stressed job (she's a paralegal in a tiny law firm that can never afford to pay her what she's worth) she decided to give herself some alone time, by depleting her savings and rent a cottage at Cape Cod for two weeks, with only her African Grey Parrot as companion. Not to mention she had also suffered a breakup and needed to get away from her nosy neighbors and family. That plan didn't work when first her bestie showed up uninvited, then her family showed up as well. Her only retreat was the local convenience store, with its handsome owner. Then you'd never guess who showed up...
Believably crazy family, and a girl who finally grew a backbone, bravo.
