GRR Reviews The Drifter's Mail-Order Bride: (A Sweet by Cassie Hayes
The Drifter's Mail-Order Bride started off an an intriguing premise, but the story fizzled out after roughly midway, when the novelty of the premise wore off.
Bonnie Blue was the older and plainer sister to her two younger sisters Gwen and Libby. When one of the younger sisters was involved in a scandal, prompting the father to marry off the three sisters to some local lecherous "deacons" in the church, Bonnie had to take all three on the run, to become mail order brides to the three Dalton brothers in Texas. Upon getting there, Gwen and Libby were immediately paired off with the two brothers, leaving Bonnie to fume as she's left with the last Dalton to arrive... Bart "The Drifter" Dalton who's always been camping out in the wilderness for a couple days every month, for he never stayed around in a place for very long, esp. when his brothers didn't even tell him that he's about to get married! But when Bonnie made him a proposition even he can't refuse...
The first three novels of the series started off the same as they share the common "origin story" where they had to run from their home. I honestly don't see why Bonnie would fall for the drifter, even though he's the only brother left, and the proposition barely makes sense. Thus, my conclusion that the rest of the story fizzled. At least the twist that came later were kinda exciting. All in all, I can only rate this mediocre.
