GRR Reviews Her Backup Boyfriend (Sorensen Family) by Ashlee Mallory

Her Backup Boyfriend is a contemporary romance with good conflict about expectations and duty vs. ethics and heart.

Straight-shooter lawyer Kate Matthews played by the rules... Until her blue blood ex-boyfriend got engaged and a big promotion. She blurted out she had a boyfriend too... But she didn't. When her neighbor Dominic Sorenson volunteered to help her look over her house for renovation, she noted that Dom was one heck of a hunk... and when she brought up the idea of Dom playing her boyfriend, he was quite fond of the idea, as he had some interest in Kate himself. Before you know it, Kate and Dom are a couple... but was it pretend... or was it real? When there were hints that Kate's promotion to junior partner may be on the line based on her marital status, and Kate found out that her firm may have breached ethical rules in defending one of their clients... Kate had a bigger decision to make than love and career... but of her heart...

The stakes are raised nicely, and perceptions challenged, and what seemed to be a worthy goal turned out to be not so... It was quite a bit of fun to read, as the "bad guys" got their karma.
