GRR Reviews Redemption For Liars by Elizabeth Janette
Redemption For Liars is an interesting romantic suspense that had a couple interesting twists and turns, but the original meet-cute barely works. Also, the evil guy seems to be a bit too heartless and had a bit too much access.
FBI Agent Jonah White had a pretty good career, collaring bad guys until his troubled socialite sister took a swan dive out a hotel window, and her inheritance came up short to amount of 50K. EVERYBODY, including the FBI, ruled it a suicide, but Jonah wasn't ready to let it go. So he took a leave of absence to go to Hill's Creek, Texas, to follow up the only lead: her sister was seen in the company of a guy called Eli Savantes, and that guy apparently died in a car crash recently, leaving behind a widow Maya and a small daughter Lily. Now Jonah must infiltrate himself into Maya's life, while undercover, unsanctioned by the Bureau, in order to find out where the money went. In the meanwhile, the real culprit is still out there... more and more desperate for his money... And as the real culprit escalated his intimidation of Maya, sure that she had the money, Jonah found himself falling for Maya... But what happens when Maya found the truth? Can Jonah still protect Maya?
The bad guy somehow just came across as TOO evil, and his access to certain material appears to be... too broad. And the lack of cover identity appears to a strange oversight. At least the author get the FBI agent to be doing stuff in his off-time as this is way "off the reservation", so to speak.
