Her Sanctuary is a contemporary romantic suspense that featured a woman on the run and a very protective ranch owner, with some clever twists and turns. However, the psych profile of the FMC was a bit iffy.
Ex-FBI agent Elizabeth Ward is on the run. Her own agency sold her out, and left her at the mercy of a criminal. Bruised and battered after the ordeal, she ran when she found that her attacker had made a deal and will not face justice. Now she's in Montana, in disguise, having executed her own plan, and with a new identity to hide out as a tourist on a dude ranch ran by Nat Sullivan. Nat is trying the darnest to keep the ranch afloat and keep the family together. Nat has no time for distractions, and the stranger, who was definitely hiding a LOT of things, is definitely a distraction. But as Nat discovered more about "Eliza" (and fell for each other), the criminal that attacked Elizabeth escaped protective custody and bent on taking revenge against the agent who nailed him, it is time to decide: stand and fight... or keep running...
I take issues with two aspects of the book. One, the criminal has a mole within the FBI, but the details were left extremely vague and it was resolved with less than a paragraph near the end, and it did not feel very satisfying. My biggest problem with the plot was the psych profile of the FMC, was was basically suffering PTSD due to the attack, and she seriously considered ending her life a few times, and sleep with a gun under her pillow. I honestly don't know if getting cared for by a handsome cowboy can resolve that, rather than a professional counselor. But then, we are talking about a romance... *shrugs*
