GRR Reviews Leather and Lace (Lonesome Point Texas by Lili Valente

Leather and Lace is a contemporary "strong protector" trope where the MMC proceeds to save the FMC from her evil ex. While the main plot is trope, there were enough interesting added tidbits, such as a family curse and a little bit of supernatural (a ghost town) to make things interesting.

Mia Sherman went home to Lonesome Point, TX and opened her lingerie shop. She used to be the town prankster, but her ex, who turned stalker on her, and mentally unstable, made her afraid for her life. She was just getting back into the groove of things and did not need Sawyer Kane, a sexy Harley-riding cowboy in town to renovate the old town. But Sawyer was about as nice as they come, and Mia fell for him hard. But when Mia's ex was released from jail and disappeared from his halfway house, Mia is afraid for her life and Sawyer's. Now Mia and Sawyer must struggle to save themselves, and their love for each other.

The MMC vs. Evil Ex trope was kinda meh, nothing really new there. The interesting stuff is in the way the author managed to set up the supernatural elements, both about the curse on the 1st born daughter... AND the old town that was reputedly haunted. Except... you don't really know which is real, and which is just a story. I think one of the twists was not set up properly so it came out to be a bit "WTF". The other twist made a lot more sense and assisted in the "final resolution", but it was a bit too simple and convenient. Consider this really 3.5/5
