GRR Reviews Kiss the Bride (The Davis Sisters) by Rachael Johns
Magdalena, a preacher's daughter, already suffered in reputation when she got pregnant as a teenager. She left town, unable to bear the gossip behind her back. Fifteen years later, when she heard that her mother was sick, she moved back to Marietta, MT with her daughter. When the local celebrity couple got the local country music star to sing at their wedding, the singer held an audition for a local singing partner. Mags' daughter goaded her into going, and she brought the house down. That made her a partner with local heartthrob singer Jake. // Jake had a good run in the country music business, but he had lost his muse. He moved to Marietta for a more normal life, and he never expected his singing partner Mags to both inspire him and made him fall in love. However, Mags was nervous and frightened... but of what? Moreover, why is the town still gossiping about her behind her back?
For a 120 page short this is quite good, with proper plot and escalation, everything flowed nicely. It's just that characters are a bit flat, could be due to the length though.
Category: Contemporary / Western
Primary Plot: Single mom is back in town with daughter in tow, when a chance audition to sing with a country legend (and local heartthrob) may give her a second chance at love...
