Taylor is down and out, barely making any money doing multiple jobs such as waitressing. Meeting a hot exec then making out with him in the restroom was wonderful. But in a moment of weakness... She pickpocketed his wallet. Already full of regret, she turned the wallet in untouched. A month later, a construction company is hiring to start a new resort, and Taylor with her cousin applied. Taylor only realized later that her boss is none other than the exec, Ethan, that she almost made out within the bar restroom. Unfortunately, when Ethan got back his wallet, all the cash was missing, and he blamed Taylor. Now forced to stay together (Taylor needs the money from work), Ethan tries to force Taylor into bad behavior, only to see the "true" Taylor... and Taylor had already fallen for the cold-hearted boss...
Eh, the idea that Ethan would force his company to hire her (even though she never had the experience to work construction, and even disguised herself as a guy) just to "entrap" her really made no sense, and it's not even a rom-com. The whole setup is a confusing mess, and it's extremely long and spanned multiple chapters. The rest of the novel, where Ethan and Taylor slowly warmed to each other, works better, as it's a strange mix between rom-com and sexual tension. But the long, complicated, and utterly ridiculous setup just didn't work for me. 2.5/5
