Good twists near the end, though it felt a bit deus ex machina... 4.5/5

GRR Reviews Turbulent Intrigue by Melody Anne

Ace spent years undercover as a drug cartel pilot and dealmaker, so deep under he can't even let his family know he's safe. He finally brought down the kingpin and the cartel, but the kingpin's final gambit bomb severely wounded Ace, forcing him to go home to recuperate, which is where he met Dakota, best friend of one of his sisters-in-law, current NFL cheerleader, and pilot-wannabe. Ace knew Dakota should be off-limits, but Dakota definitely wanted Ace... Until a new threat surfaced... Someone knew Ace was the snitch that took down the cartel, and wanted to kill him for retribution, and to do that, they will go after anyone near him...

While the threat is nice and detailed, the response to it is a bit puzzling. Ace's brothers stepped up to help him, which is nice, but they are not commandos... (one's airline CEO/pilot, one's a USAF fighter pilot, and one is Coast Guard helo pilot)  But they go on rescue missions like SWAT? Hmmm? And Ace is a real bullet sponge... got shot and blown up multiple times. Eeek. Poor guy. 4/5

GRR Reviews Turbulent Waters by Melody Anne

Nick, coast guard helo pilot, was the sole survivor when his helo went down in stormy seas. While in rehab, he met his new physical therapist: Chloe. She's sexy, smart, and guarded. And Nick wanted to woo her. But she has a deep dark secret... she's there at the behest of her father to dig up dirt on Nick... to destroy him, for one of the dead on Nick's final flight was her brother. But the more time she spent with Nick, the more she realized Nick is someone who'd give up his life "so others may live" (creed of the Coast Guard). But how can she let Nick know the truth? Or is it too late?

While the plot has been done before, the motivation twist was somewhat novel. However, the end was a bit of tell, not show, and the darkest hour was kinda long. 4/5

GRR Reviews Arden by Melody Anne

Arden is a teacher... but also a billionaire (not that you can tell by looking), and he's falling for the new principal, Keera, who's enigmatic, guarded, and beautiful. When they found that someone is running drugs through the school, and there had been violent break-ins around Keera, Arden is determined to protect her, calling in his FBI brother if necessary. But while Keera is VERY tempted by the gorgeous, handsome, and protective Arden, Keera is too ashamed of her secrets to let anyone in... Because those who were the closest may be the ones who betray the hardest... But when it comes time to lay down the cards, there may only be one person to trust...

Okay, I kinda like the twist, but on the other hand, motivation is a little... nebulous. And the final act really made little sense, as it's mainly told, not shown.  You have to read all books in the series to understand the grand conspiracy that runs through the entire series, i.e. the one bad guy behind it all. 4/5

GRR Reviews Turbulent Desires by Melody Anne

ER Nurse Lindsey has a severe case of PTSD after two madmen attacked her emergency room, killed one of the doctors and a nurse, and almost killed her. A year later, she can go through the motions of life and job, but she's withdrawn, even as her friend, a sexy flyboy by the name of Maverick (no, it's NOT a callsign) tries to help her recover.  // Maverick flies F/A-18 for the US Air Force, and he and Lindsey had a one-night stand at his brother's wedding. But she's withdrawn after the attack. Mav is determined to rescue her from herself, and then he will walk away, because he had sworn to never fall in love, not even for the stupid inheritance (long story). But he will stay the course for her...

Good polish, and his time off (stupid move and broke his arm, thus gets to stay home for a little while) was explained, sort of. But he just doesn't sound military at all. And there doesn't seem to be much of a "conflict"?  May be the weakest in the series. 3/5

GRR Reviews Owen by Melody Anne

Eden and Owen used to be an item. They planned everything together. Until one day, he disappeared. And all his brothers can offer are apologies and assurances that he's okay. And Eden decided to forget about him, and he's just another person who left her, in a long series of disappointments. Ten years later, Owen is back, as a  firefighter for the local force, but is also trained to fight forest fires. And an arsonist is targeting the town. And Eden is back, as an investigator... her sights set on Owen himself. And it's clear whatever they had, it isn't over, even as a madman, bent on revenge upon Owen and the town, does not care who gets in his flames... and the only one who can save Eden will be Owen...

The series was planned really well, with a slow conspiracy reveal that happens over multiple books. And here, we finally got another piece of the puzzle, and the nebulous villain targeting the brothers now has a name... and motivation to ruin the brothers. Intrigue and suspense run pretty well. 4.5/5

GRR Review Kian by Melody Anne

Kian is a surgeon that came from an ultra-rich family, even though he always wanted to make his own way. He only loved one woman, Roxie, but she left him without explanation years ago. One night, while in rotation in Emergency Room, he found the pregnant woman on the gurney, suffering from multiple stab wounds, was Pamela, Roxie's sister (and his one-night-stand). Her three-year-old daughter Lily was also there. In her dying moments, Pamela said the daughter, Lily, was Kian's, and she wanted Lily to be brought up by Kian and Roxie. Now Kian has to reunite with Roxie, for Lily's sake, but Roxie is not giving in without a fight...

I'm still a little confused about why Lily left way back when. It seems she just felt... smothered by how good Kian is, aka "I can't be myself when I'm around you." The darkest hour was kinda "out of nowhere". I felt there could have been some foreshadowing planted ahead of time for that. 4/5

GRR Reviews The Billionaire Wins the Game by Melody Anne

The Billionaire Wins the Game is a slow-burn "hot for boss" romance that unfortunately relied on "run away to sort my feelings" trope for the ending. The characters are actually quite decent. That, with the background machinations of the parents, made it an enjoyable read with a fizzled ending.

Joseph and Catherine have lived a good life, but their sons are in their thirties, and none of them even have a steady girlfriend. Joseph's first target: oldest son Luke. Luke is wealthy, sexy, but he puts work first and only does NSA sex, and even he's getting tired of that, esp. ones who turned out to be golddiggers. Until he ran into Amy Harper. Amy Harper grew up under tragic circumstances. She barely put herself through school and live practically in the ghetto. She knew she can't rely on anyone, even as she yearned for a family to call her own. When the elder Anderson screened her and deemed her acceptable as Luke's new executive assistant, she was elated, even as she found her new boss Luke incredibly sexy, but irritably arrogant, and it was clear they both have chemistry, but both deny each other. When they finally succumbed to their temptations... and Amy got pregnant, she was scared he'll just take the baby, but Luke has every intention of marrying Amy. Luke is used to getting his way, but Amy has the right spark to challenge him in every way. But how can Luke convince Amy to dream a life happily ever after with him?

As I mentioned, one of the parties decided to "run away to sort my feelings". That is... extremely annoying. As it basically did not resolve ANYTHING, but merely let the passage of time IMPLY a change of heart, rather than one party convince the other to change. I also find Luke a bit on the bland side.

Category: Contemporary

Primary Plot: Independent woman fell for her hot sexy billionaire boss, but she doesn't want to be dependent on any one... then she got pregnant...

Tropes: hot for boss, matchmaker, family pressure, different worlds, pregnancy

Overall Rating:  4/5

GRR Reviews Turbulent Intentions by Melody Anne

Turbulent Intentions is a romance between Cooper and Stormy with a long and drawn-out intro. Once the main story gets going six years later, it started to make more sense.

Six years ago Cooper and Stormy shared a one-night-stand. Now, Stormy is the barrista at the airport's cafe, and Cooper is the airline owner but also getting stick-time as a regular pilot, and he knew Stormy from... somewhere? When Cooper's uncle put Stormy as a tenant in Cooper's guesthouse, Cooper can only think about getting Stormy back into his bed, that he sorta forgot to mention that if he get married he gets his share of the inheritance. So Stormy ran away, and Cooper need to get her back, until an in-flight emergency put that into doubt...

Other than OMG We lost an engine, we're gonna crash part the book is fine, except, as I said, the long intro was a bit off. And the part about airline owner who also moonlights as one of the pilots, really? Still, doesn't distract too much from the overall story. It's okay.

Category: Contemporary

Primary Plot: Airline Owner / Pilot wants the barista whom he had a one-night-stand with back in his bed, but the flight emergency may derail that plan.

Tropes: different worlds, disguise, reunion,

Overall Rating: 4/5 (rounded up from 3.5/5)
