GRR Review: Nobody's Angel by Sarah Hegger

Nobody's Angel is rather unique in that it's about a woman's redemption. Most romances feature women wounded by external factors (family tragedy, rape, evil boyfriend, evil boss, etc.) but this novel featured an FMC ready to make amends, and maybe, find love.

Lucy Flint left Willow Park Illinois nine years ago, leaving a trail of emotional destruction in her wake. When her father's mental condition deteriorated into paranoia w/ anger outbursts, Lucy chose to come back to confront her demons. Lucy is now sober, wiser, and ready to make amends... esp. to her love, Dr. Richard Hunter, but was it his forgiveness that she sought, or his heart? Does she know what she wants? And in the small town, people are not in the forgiving mood.

The novel takes the onion peel approach to the lives Lucy had burned, as you will discover them layer by layer, and even so she cannot stay away from Richard, even though both know this cannot possibly last, with the entire town watching them, and hostile reception everywhere. And Lucy will learn more about herself as well. I enjoyed the complex characters and their motivations, even though the plot's a bit slow at times.

Category: Contemporary

Primary Plot: Woman who left town after ruining many lives for selfishness is back nine years later, ready to make amends and seek forgiveness or love from the man she left behind
