GRR Reviews Haven on the Riverwalk (Small Town Kiss by Eileen Cruz Coleman

Haven on the Riverwalk is a 50-page short contemporary romantic suspense that featured a pretty simple trope: girl on the run found hope in a small town.

Maggie, on the run from her abusive boyfriend who held a secret over her, found herself stranded in the small town to Solomon's Island, Maryland. She wanted a place to start over, and when local bike shop owner Dustin invited her to stay, she relented and found the town to be as charming as expected, and Dustin to be irresistible. But the happy life may soon come to an end when her ex showed up in town, intending to force her back, and her secret and her heart exposed...

All the characters are properly motivated but there's just a feeling that the story just feels it was over a bit too quickly and bit too conveniently. And the nemesis, without spoiling the story, was a bit TOO evil. Still, it was a good fast read.

Category: Romantic suspense

Primary Plot: Woman on the run stranded in a small town found hope in a kind stranger; nemesis was a bit too psycho

Tropes: protector, woman in peril, small town, evil ex

Overall Rating:  3/5
